Mayoral Appointments and Appointments to the Planning Commission, Parks, Recreation and Human Services Commission, Cultural Arts Commission, Art in Public Places Committee and Traffic Committee

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

Public Member Appointments
The Council Sub-Committee of Marick and Simonoff interviewed interested applicants for the various Committee openings and will make a recommendation to the City Council.

There are also several items for Council Consideration:

Adding an additional public member to the Art and Public Places Advisory Committee.
Aligning the Committee Appointments to coincide with the current “even number of years” application period. At the present time we have public members whose term expires in odd number of years. In the past it has been difficult to fill these positions and this change would draw applicants from a larger pool if all were combined every two years.

Mayoral Appointments
Mayor Vargas will also announce Council appointments to various internal and external committees. In addition, there is an interest on a “go forward” basis in clarifying the role of the Ad Hoc Committee and its members.
