Commission/Committee Member Recruitment Timeline and Designation of Two (2) Council Members to Serve on the Interview Panel

RECOMMENDATION

Approve the recruitment timeline and designate two (2) Council Members to serve on the Interview Panel for the Arts in Public Places Committee; Cultural Arts Commission; Parks, Recreation and Human Services Commission; Planning Commission and Traffic Committee.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

The Brea City Code outlines the process for Commission and Committee Member recruitment. Staff proposes the following recruitment timeline:

• All applications are due to the City Clerk's Office no later than December 18, 2020.

• Council will designate two (2) City Council Members to serve as the Interview Committee.

• Applicants will interview with the Interview Committee no later than the week of January 11, 2021.

• Council will make appointments at the January 19, 2021 City Council meeting. Council and will also recognize outgoing commission/commttee members at this meeting.

If approved, applications will be available to the public on the City's website: http://www.ci.brea.ca.us on December 2, 2020. The earliest a Notice of Vacancy can be published in the Star Progress is Thursday, December 10, 2020 due to publishing deadlines,
